One West Point
London-based developer City & Docklands approached RareKind, with a remarkable opportunity. They were asked to become the Art and Creative Directors for the highly anticipated residential development, One West Point, located in North Acton. With four buildings spanning 111 floors, expansive foyers, and beautiful gardens, RareKind was presented with an abundance of space to showcase their creative prowess.
One of the key features of the project was the incorporation of murals throughout the entire development. RareKind’s talented team, led by designer David, was responsible for designing these captivating murals, which were then brought to life by their skilled artists. Each residential floor in the four buildings boasted a unique mural, adding an artistic touch to the living spaces. Additionally, RareKind crafted hand-painted way-finding signs on each floor, ensuring a visually appealing and cohesive aesthetic throughout the buildings.
In their meticulous attention to detail, RareKind also took charge of designing the door number plates. Using high-quality brass materials and employing screen-printing techniques, they created elegant and distinctive number plates for each door. These plates harmonised with the colour schemes of the corridors, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall design.
RareKind’s dedication to curating captivating environments extended beyond individual apartments and hallways. They worked closely with the talented artists they commissioned to produce large-scale murals that warmly greeted the residents in the foyers of each block. Icon Tower boasted a stunning mural by Bonzai, while Sophie Mess and Jiver showcased their artistic talents on separate walls in the Residential Building. Abi Everett’s mesmerising mural adorned the walls of Legacy Point. These visually striking artworks brought life and vibrancy to the common areas, creating a sense of community and artistic appreciation.
Furthermore, RareKind curated galleries within Legacy Point and the Residential Building, showcasing an impressive selection of artworks. The galleries featured a diverse mix of paintings, prints, and photography, with celebrated artists like Louise Howard, Jonas Ranson, Will Gates, and Declan Driver, among others, gracing the exhibition spaces. This thoughtful curation ensured that the residents of One West Point could immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of artistic expression right at their doorstep.
To enhance the overall artistic ambiance, RareKind also took on the task of producing sculptures for the site. Renowned artist Gary Stranger created a captivating sculpture titled ‘Future,’ which added a striking visual element to the development. Additionally, David Samuel’s sculpture, aptly named ‘The Hug,’ provided a poignant and emotive center-piece, evoking a sense of warmth and connection.
Undoubtedly, the One West Point project marked a milestone for RareKind, being their largest and most ambitious endeavour to date. They were given the opportunity to showcase their extensive design expertise and creative vision throughout the development, leaving an indelible artistic imprint. Through their collaborative efforts with City & Docklands, RareKind succeeded in creating a visually stunning and culturally enriching environment for the residents of One West Point, establishing a legacy of art and creativity that would endure for years to come.
There is more to come on the project which will include the Gym, Long Bar, Cafe and 2 level Car Park which shall feature a large mural flowing though-out the space.
