HS2 Conveyor

Project

SCS JV commissioned RareKind to create a 35-meter-long artwork titled “Flow” for the HS2 conveyor structure intersecting the Grand Union Canal, aiming to aesthetically integrate the industrial structure with its natural surroundings.

Process

David Samuel, drawing from his personal connection to the area, developed an abstract pattern inspired by the canal’s evolving hues and the interplay between nature and industry. The design encapsulated the continuous movement of the canal, reflecting both its physical flow and the area’s transformation.

Outcome

“Flow” serves as a visual tribute to the Grand Union Canal’s perpetual motion, enhancing the industrial structure’s appearance and fostering a deeper appreciation for the area’s blend of natural and man-made elements.
